I was nervous buying this because it seemed a little too good to be true, considering how low the price is for what your are getting and how good the reviews are. I finally caved and ended up buying this product on October 30th, and it was delivered on Nov 1st.The packaging was very nice, it came with everything you need including razors and eye protection glasses. My first thought was that is looked legit. It has a little bit of weight to it, when you turn it on you can hear some kind of whirring noise like something is happening. The next thing I noticed is that it just has one button (the power button) along with the trigger. To turn the device on and off you hold the power button and to turn up the power level you just tap the power button and it goes up a level. Note that the "zaps" are EXTREMELY bright. Even pressed tight to my skin and wearing the eye glasses, I keep my eye clothes during the flash to be on the safe side. The first session I used it seemed to not do anything but I had only used the device at power level 1 because I was nervous it would hurt. The second session I did a few things different: I turned up the power level to 3 and did one pass of zapping over the areas I was treating, as neatly as possible like I was following a grid. Then I turned the power level to 4, did one more pass, and in the areas where my skin is lightest, I went ahead and did the same again at power level 5 (maximum strength). So each spot of hair growth gets 2 or 3 zaps every time I use it and I usually wait 4 to 6 days before I use it again. It really doesn't take very much time to cover a large area because the part of the device that does the zapping has pretty wide coverage. After my second and third sessions, the hair on my upper lip never grew back. It took six sessions to get rid of 99% of my chin/ jaw / neck hair (two stubborn hairs left on my jaw). After four sessions my tummy hair is about 2/3rd of the way gone, my armpit hair has been reduced by about half.I have had this product one month and it has significantly reduced my unwanted hair. For context, I am cisgender latina woman with light, yellow/gold skin tone and my body hair is extremely thick, coarse, black and curly. Please note, anywhere you have more melanin in your skin, the higher levels can also burn your skin instead of just hair- so do not use level 5 where your skin is medium-tone or tan, and do not use level 4 or up where your skin is dark. The device has a little card in it that shows which intensity levels are safe for which skin / hair colors.I have found the best technique is to shave and then wait until I get "5 o'clock" shadow bit of hair growth before zapping. You will literally smell burning hair if you use this technique, but it does not actually hurt and this seems to be the best way to get the fastest results. You'll notice that a few hairs seem to be zapped out immediately, but most of the hairs that you lose will fall out after a day or two.Just try to be consistent and it really, really works. I am excited about eventually not needing to shave but I am much, much more excited by the lack of that post-shave shadow. Especially for my underarms, it is amazing to see the patches where hair no longer grows are actually regular skin color instead of that gray/purple tone that my armpits normally have after shaving. After sessions, your skin will feel warm to the touch, but I have had zero actual burns anywhere on my body. Over the course of an entire session I might have one or two "Ow!" moments where a zap actually hurts, but the pain level is comparable to being snapped by a rubber band and goes away instantly. I use the "Australian Gold Aloe Vera Freeze Gel with Lidocaine" as a cooling gel after if my skin feels particularly warm to the touch after. Please, please learn from my mistake and do NOT put that cooling gel on your face: it gave me the worst acne break-out of my life. At first, I wasn't sure if it was this device or the gel that triggered the break out, but after continuing use of the device without the gel I can confirm that this device does not trigger break outs. Now I just use a gentle face moisturizer after zapping facial hair and save the cooling gel for my body.I have every intention of using this product to permanently remove all of my body hair and, honestly, it probably comes with enough flashes that two people or more could remove all their body hair. This thing is absolutely worth it and more, one of the best purchases I have made on amazon. It permanently removes body hair and there is no downside. If your body hair is darker than your skintone, you should absolutely buy it.
I had very low expectations for this IPL compared to laser removal or IPL from a clinician, but it exceeded even my best expectations.Warning! You will likely not see ANY difference the first couple of uses. It's important to wait at least a week, two to three showing better results. Now, as a MTF transwoman, I have a lot of hair. Facial, and body, that I HAVE to remove. I have very fair skin and black-brown facial hair with body hair being just straight up brown. Instructions say to shave immediately before and to have as smooth as skin as possible but I found it works best if I shave one or two full days before I actually use the device.Initially, I was disappointed but not too much because as I said, low expectations. I figured I spent $100 might as well keep trying since it's 2-3x a week that's suggested for its use. First week I didn't really see any difference but I kept using - at full power. It doesn't really hurt much but I also have a high pain tolerance (if you can do laser, this is no problem at all). Week 3 is when it all started becoming noticeable. My leg hair is much MUCH slower to grow, some hairs are lighter, and there are a few patches of hairless skin, just absolutely SMOOTH. Mind you, YMMV. I have somewhat fine-thin hair, my facial hair is coarse and dense. I'm on week 4 and will continue to update here as I keep using it, but results are looking amazing and having smoother legs after almost a month is worth this IPL.I absolutely recommend this to everyone, but especially transwomen because hair removal is imperative to many of us to help ease our dysphoria. You'll save TONS of money. Lowest laser hair removal I was quoted was $200/treatment and it was just for the face - no neck. If you want to use it on the rest of your body like I am (smooth pits anyone?) then you'll easily save thousands going this route.Pros: Super easy to use, only need to use it two-three times a week, comes with shades (for the love of all that is holy USE THEM), cool safety feature where it won't zap if it's not touching skin, quick treatments, you can use it on your more private areas with success.Cons: There is only one con - the power cord. The IPL needs to be connected to the power cord by plugging it into the device, kinda like how you hook up a laptop. But imagine your battery on your laptop is dead and you can only use the power cord, except the plug can can be pulled from the device with only a modest tug or snag. It's not the biggest deal if you keep in mind you need some slack to maneuver it around and being mindful of the cord.
I’ve been using this device for 2 months. I’m in the aesthetic medicine industry so I know what to expect. Although not as powerful as in-clinic devices (will take more sessions), I wanted something that I could do at home whenever I had the time to do so.Very straight forward to use. For the most part, pretty painless. There are some areas that are more sensitive than others but even then, not so bad (hot rubber band). How I’ve been doing it:- most powerful level (careful depending on your skin tone);- shave the area and do the treatment the day of plus 2 days after;-pull the skin so it becomes taut;- shoot it 2x without moving it and redo the whole area 2-3x - that would be considered 1 session;- do the same the next 2 days before the hair grows too long out of the skin (it’s ok to do on a very very light stubble); Results:So I’ve been doing 2-3 sessions every week (I use 500-800 a session for tummy plus whole bikini area) for the past 6-8 weeks and the results are extremely noticeable - amazing! I’m a great candidate for it: extremely dark thick hair with much lighter skin. After the first 2 weeks I already saw results: balding spots, much less hair growth (quantity) and slower growth. In darker areas, where we have folds, it didn’t work as well - which is expected.** You need to have high contrast between the hair and your skin for it to work. The light is attracted to melanin, if your skin has lots of it, the light will disperse to the whole area and your hair won’t absorve it - making it useless. After 2 months, my tummy and bikini area has less than 25% of what it had before. I used to shave and in 2 days wouldn’t be able to wear bikini anymore - now I shave and it last more than a week with very few hairs that grow back.I have very realistic expectations - I will not become hairless forever!! This device makes the hair follicles dormant for a period of time. I just wanted something to make it more manageable - being hairy demands major planning and it’s super stressful. If it makes the hair grow much slower and less of it at the same time - works for me! I’ll be spacing it out more now that I have much less in that area and start other places.Cons:- the surface area is extremely small so for large areas (legs, thighs, back..) will demand lots of time to do a session, but it’s not a con of this device - all of them are like that. Conclusion: it works IF- you’re the right candidate for it (very dark and thick hair on way lighter skin - won’t work on thin and/or light hair);- do it correctly (potency, spacing, 3 passings a session);- you’re very consistent (3 sessions a week);- you have realistic expectations.(If your hirsutism is hormonal, it might not work so well - but I would definitely give it a try)I am very satisfied with this purchase and will continue to do most of my body a couple of areas at a time.
